Testing out the new twitter #music app on the computer and the iPad (it’s an iPhone app) and I’m not sure I’ll ever really use this thing. It’s fantastic for artists with great distribution, but doesn’t help independent and DIY artists at all. Song previews via iTunes. Full song streams through paid accounts for Spotify or Rdio. Gimme my last.fm and bandcamp. And turntable.fm. That’s how i shall continue to find new music, then share with you on Neeshcast!
Earlier this week I posted up a mini-documentary of the journey one song took from conception to our ears, so I discussed it this week. I also discussed artist events on Turntable.FM, we sampled some new releases, and we mourned the loss of My Chemical Romance and Tigers Jaw. Lots of great tunes this week! Make sure to support the artists you dig!

Remember Turntable?
When it first launched in May of 2011, the music service seemed…
agree? disagree? All I know is, Turntable.FM, particularly the Pop Punk/Rock/Alternative/Emo room, has been a staple in my life since I signed up in June 2011. It’s now March 2013. If I’m looking for recommendations or news on new music, PPRAE’s my spot.
This is a screenshot of Turntable.FM/lobby, and guess what? The last event for today links to PPRAE!
So this Stellar Young album isn’t too shabby. Maybe you should stop by PPRAE tonight at 10pm EST and hear it for yourself though.
Bury Me A Lion are returning to Turntable.FM, and this time to jam in PPRAE!
Here’s the skinny! It’s goin’ down on Thursday (March 21st) at 5:30pm EST
I’m excited for this! Should be tons of fun

BertGoesToCollege was just trying to upload Bane - “In Pieces” to spin.
I was spinning Emily Long - “Home”
Funny thing though, last I checked, Bane has always been on Equal Vision Records. In the mid 00’s EVR releases were distributed via Sony RED, but they’re now distributed via Warner Music Group. I…. don’t know. Honestly, I’ve been worried about turntable.fm since their big huge SXSW announcement was… they struck a deal with the majors.
It’s a streaming discovery engine with the influence of living, breathing, fellow music fans. Much more than merely listening data spitting out suggestions of other music with large listening bases.
Monetized TT, let’s go. What’s this sticker thing with prices? Let’s go. You’ve been around much longer than I expected. We’re quickly approaching my one year anniversary on the site. I’ve moved from #23 DJ on the site to #25 because I’ve taken time off to promote and distribute my own release (Session 606 - REBIRTH). My writing has slowed to a crawl. I started a podcast. Most of all, I’ve made some amazing friends.

Christofer Drew of Never Shout Never has never been one to stay quiet about how he feels on any topic. Once again, that became very clear in a brand new interview with Bryan Stars, a 22 year old music interviewer with a knack for silly questions and a very loose style of conversation.
I’m compelled to respond to this situation.
I first came across Bryan Stars in 2010 because he interviewed Terrible Things.
Short, sweet, fun.
I’ll admit, I know absolutely nothing about Never Shout Never. I have a negative opinion on their music because of the way I’ve seen them marketed. I’m of the impression that their audience is composed of mid-to-late teenagers. In fact, chatting with folks of that age group are the only reason why I’ve heard this band named “Never Shout Never.”
Part of the promo run as a professional musician, is doing interviews. The point of that is to give insight into what’s behind the music. I completely understand the frustration behind wanting to be taken seriously for your art, but always being dismissed and categorized incorrectly. I entirely understand the intense need to discuss the album you’re hyping up for yourself as well as your existing and potential audience. Making sure that your co-creators share the spotlight, that’s for some reason or another, focused on you, is extremely valid. Being as this guy says he’s been out there since he was 16 and now he’s 21… That’s 5 solid years of experience. He’s got to know how to handle interviews.
This guy (Christofer Drew) just spews nonsense throughout. I’ve seen several BryanStars interviews. I’m not particularly a fan of his “interview style,” but hell… This wasn’t Never Shout Never’s first interview with him. Unless an interviewer has a personal relation to the interviewee, the interview will not be fully tailored to that interviewee. Dude’s a fan, he wanted to have fun. It was the BryanStars show, not the Never Shout Never show. Whether we like what Bryan does or not, it’s what he does, and it works for him. Mr. Drew should just interview himself from now on so he can “get real” whenever he wants.
Talk about ego, man. Straight up douche chills.
By the way, this is how you handle an interview.
