Jimmy Eat World - A Praise Chorus
———-
This upbeat homage to rock shows & music from JEW’s 2001 album Bleed American (later retitled, Jimmy Eat World, despite the fact that their 1994 debut album was already self-titled, due to public sensitivity after September 11, 2001… and eventually reretitled Bleed American for the 2008 deluxe edition release) features back-up vocals from Davey von Bohlen of Milwaukee’s The Promise Ring (and more recently- Maritime, Vermont, Cap’n Jazz).
The bridge strings together 7 lines from 7 different songs
- “Crimson and Clover. Over and over.” (from “Crimson and Clover” by Tommy James and the Shondells, 1968)
- “Our house in the middle of the street.” (from “Our House” by Madness, 1982)
- “Why did we ever meet?” (from “Why Did We Ever Meet” by The Promise Ring, 1997)
- “Started my rock ‘n roll fantasy.” (from “Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy” by Bad Company, 1979)
- “Don’t, don’t, don’t let’s start.” (from “Don’t Let’s Start” by They Might Be Giants, 1987)
- “Why did we ever part?” (from “All of My Everythings” by The Promise Ring, 1999)
- “Kickstart my rock ‘n rollin heart.” (from “Kickstart My Heart” by Mötley Crüe, 1989)
Things are never going to be quite what you want…
Even at twenty-five you got to start sometime.
Jimmy Eat World’s latest release, Invented, will be released on Tuesday (September 28, 2010)
